Lynda Kane Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2024.
Lynda McHale (Lee) Kane, 79, of Gainesville, passed away on October 9, 2024 after a peaceful day with friends and family.

Born on March 18, 1945 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Lynda was the beloved and only daughter of the late Hugh and Helen Lee. Lynda had an unwavering passion for her family, country, Catholic faith and New England in the summer. She often reminisced about special times with friends and days at West High School where she was the captain of the cheerleading team and May Queen in 1962.

A trailblazer in every sense of the word, Lynda began her career in 1966 as a teacher for the Pawtucket School system after graduating from Rhode Island College. She relocated to Atlanta, GA with her late husband, John J. McHale, Sr. also of Pawtucket, and pursued a marketing career until 2001 with AT&T and Lucent Technologies. After only two months in retirement, she returned to her first love of teaching and taught 5th grade for Gwinnett County Public Schools until 2011.

Her family will forever cherish her strength, will to overcome adversity and lessons of hard work she imparted. Lynda rarely missed athletic practices and games for her 3 children and 16 grandchildren. She always "showed up".

Lynda is survived by her husband Eugene Kane of Lawrenceville, her children Jennifer (John) Anderson of Gainesville, John (Kelley) McHale Jr. of Alpharetta, Courtney (Shane) Ness of Cohasset, MA and her stepchildren Jennifer (Tim) Disotell of Lawrenceville, Tim (Joni) Kane of Durham, NC and Dan (Chihaya) Kane of Orlando, FL. Her legacy lives on in her 16 grandchildren Brooke McHale, Avery (Jack) Tuten, John Anderson, Jack McHale, Chandler McHale, Delaney McHale, Brady McHale, Emerson McHale, Charlie Ness, Natalie Ness, Grant Ness, Joe Kane, Whit Kane, Katie Kane, Taiki Kane, and Allison (Reece) Wilson. She loved watching their practices and games the most.

Her life will be celebrated at St. Brigid's Catholic Church 3400 Old Alabama Road Alpharetta, GA 30022 on Thursday, October 17 at 11am. Reception to follow at Upstair's at Rena's 240 South Main Street Alpharetta, GA 30009.

Lynda and I were classmates at St. Edward´s School in Pawtucket, RI. She was one of the most popular young ladies at school. Most recently I was put in touch with Lynda through her cousin Bruce MacIntyre. It seems that Linda was looking for a wedding cake expert and we just happened to have one right here in St. Marys, Georgia. Based on feedback from Lynda, it was a fabulous success. Please accept my condolences on the passing of Lynda.

Sorry to learn that Lynda has passed. She was always a friend during my time as touchdown president at Meadow Creek High School where her children attended. A vibrant and beautiful person. I will keep the family in my prayers. To the family, remember that God is good and will see you through this if you just ask. Be strong. Stan McCallar

Lynda was really a wonderful cousin. I have many, many memories of time spent together. Most recently at Avery and Jack´s wedding in St. Simons, GA.
Here is a picture of us when she came up to Jamestown during the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. We were out on the boat and she was looking snappy.
