Lynda Turner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2025.
Lynda (Stenhouse) Turner, 80, of Oak Point, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2025.

She was born January 10, 1945, in Alameda, California, to John and Rubye (Daugherty) Stenhouse. Lynda had a quick wit, a big laugh, and a gift for making people feel welcome wherever she was.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Turner. Together they built a life in Glenwood, Arkansas, in the Ouachita Mountains, and spent some of their happiest days on their houseboat at Lake Greeson, always accompanied by their tough little miniature schnauzer, Heidi.

Lynda is survived by her three children - Leah (Mike) Van Hooser of Oak Point, TX; Stephen (Christine) Ryan of Houston, TX; and Aimee Magee of Stonewall, LA - who will always carry the memory of their sweet mom. She was Nana to Leah's boys, Austin and Andrew; to Stephen and Christine's children, Travis, Caroline, and Taylor; and to Aimee's children, Elizabeth, Hannah, Regan, and Declan. Her joy only grew with the arrival of three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Stenhouse of Hallsville, TX.

She found joy in quilting, reading, and tending her garden, and she loved cooking meals that brought everyone together around her table. Her dogs were constant companions, always close by, and her greatest happiness came from time spent with family - whether it was a holiday full of laughter or a quiet afternoon at home. For her grandchildren, a visit to Nana's meant adventure: diving into piles of leaves, sliding down hills on cardboard boxes, or setting out to explore the little treasures and hidden places near her home. Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. She will be dearly missed.

A private family service will be held in her honor.

My deepest condolences on your loss. Losing a parent is so very hard. I always enjoyed being around Lynda growing up. She always made me feel welcome in her home whether it was just hanging out for a few hours or a sleepover with Leah. May you find comfort in each other.

Mama I still can't believe you're gone. I can't put into words how much you meant to me. You were always there for me no matter what. I will miss you for the rest of my life.
