Lynn never met a stranger, everyone he met was always welcome at his table with a cup of coffee. He was always kind and treated everyone with the upmost respect no matter what walk in life you were on. He was a great storyteller, he could stretch a story and have you rolling with laughter, he wanted everyone he ever talked to be full of joy and life as he always was.
Lynn worked hard all his life starting at the tender age of 8 as a shoe shine boy shining shoes in the local domino hall until he quickly learned he made better money with the ladies and their high heels; he earned better tips from them.
Lynn graduated from Wilson High School class of 1963 and held long friendships with several classmates throughout the years. Lynn was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany after training at Fort Polk in Louisiana and spent two years serving our country. While he was stationed in Germany Mary followed him after her college graduation and they were married on August 19, 1967.
Upon his release Lynn returned to Oklahoma and continued his education and received his B.A. degree in Business and Marketing at Central State College in Edmond, OK., while attending college, he worked for a body shop fixing automobiles, and after graduation he then went to work for Olivetti-Underwood as a salesman selling business products.
They returned to the Ardmore area and Lynn went to work in the oil field pulling pipe and throughout his adult life and career had ties to oil field business.
Lynn and Mary were in the health care business for eight years, while investing in oil production. They then built Uncle Lynn's Catfish Restaurant in Wichita Falls in 1987 and sold it in 1996. In the 9 years they owned Uncle Lynn's, they served well over one million happy customers. In 2000, they built and opened Cherry Street Village Assisted Living in
Nocona, TX. Cherry Street is still operating today and will continue to serve people locally and from all over the United States.
Lynn was a character like no other, he was always positive, continually upbeat, funny, joyful, and loved by all who knew him. People were naturally drawn to him and his personality he will be deeply missed by family and friends.
