Lynn Bywater Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 1, 2025.
Lynn Katherine Bywater, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2025. Leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion.

Born on March 23, 1939 in the City of Lights to John (Pa) and Helen (Nanny) Meszaros, Lynn was the eldest of four daughters-Bobbi (Stormy) Hyett, Maryann Crawford, and Patty Meszaros-who remained her lifelong friends and confidants. As the matriarch and steadfast older sister, Lynn had a natural leadership and protective spirit, often expressed through her playful tendency to "boss around" her younger sisters, a role she embraced with love and humor.

Lynn married Harry (Pete) Bywater, and together they raised three children in their hometown. A devoted and loving mother, her care never wavered-even if her children were occasionally the cause of any gray hair. Among her many roles in life, "mother" and "Grammy" were the ones she cherished most. Her compassion and fierce dedication to her family were defining qualities, and her presence was a source of strength and comfort.

With a sharp mind and playful spirit, Lynn found great joy in spending time with her loved ones-whether it was over a game of Scrabble or cards, or a trip to "the boat." She adored the film Gone with the Wind and has lovingly left behind an extensive plate collection for her granddaughters. Her sentimental heart, sense of humor, and enduring kindness left an important impact on all who knew her.

Lynn is preceded in death by her husband Pete Bywater; her cherished son, Terry; and her beloved son-in-law, Pete Vizcaya. Her memory lives on through her devoted daughters, Debbie Vizcaya and Lynda (Douglas) Leden; her many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her treasured "Golden Girls" sisters; and her numerous nieces and nephews. As well as her dear brother-in-law Dennis (Sue) Bywater.

Grammy's life was a beautiful reflection of devotion, wit, and quiet strength. While she would strongly dislike this obituary and think it was too much, we feel it offers a glimpse to what an extraordinary woman she was and how much she was loved. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She will be laid to rest privately per her wishes with family on her special son's birthday August 13, 2025.

So sorry to hear about Lynn. My condolences to Debbie and Lynda, Bobbie, MaryAnn and Patty and extended family members. I remember when she trusted me enough to babysit Debbie, Lynda and Terry. It was a loonggg time ago. Time goes by so quickly, so glad we had the family reunions to think back on.
May God grant you all comfort as you go through these days and know that Lynn has gone home.
Love and hugs,
Cousin Pam

And never forget what an amazing Aunt she was to all her nieces and nephews too. She was the one who always showed up. I am forever thankful for the time I had with Aunt Lynn - for the many years we worked side by side at White Hen, and for all the years that followed. I loved her unconditionally, and I know she loved me just the same.
