I had Professor Hinds as an instructor at Penn State as I was working toward my Broadcast Journalism degree. While I never went into the field, I do remember many moments from his class, which was a lab in which we used the school's TV studio to put together newscasts and interviews.

One moment that is indelibly etched in my mind was when Professor Hinds gave everyone the assignment of pretending to be live in front of a courthouse when the verdict in a murder trial came in. All of us in the class fumbled for the words to say - using way too many - when it was time to step in front of the camera (keep in mind that this was long before everyone became comfortable making selfie videos). After we each botched our attempt, Professor Hinds took the microphone, stepped in front of the camera, and cool as a cucumber simply said, "The verdict is in and the verdict is guilty." This lesson of "getting to the point" served me well in the corporate world.

Watching the Pennsyvania Game each week broadcast from State College was the high point of my week. I cannot tell you how much joy that gave me. I only wish I had taped those shows or that they were still available somewhere. I never saw Lynn in any of his other TV appearances, but I'm sure that others must have enjoyed his upbeat personality as much as I did. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Lynn's passing. I listened to Lynn on both KQV and WTAE. We spoke a couple of times about radio news and I appreciated his insights. A class act and true gentleman.

I credit Professor Hinds for a successful 15 year television career. I had him at WVU and he was instrumental in helping me get an internship that eventually helped me break into television. He was a terrific teacher.

My sincere condolences to the entire Hinds family. Lynn also taught at Washington & Jefferson College. I had him for a public speaking course and never enjoyed anything more. I've thought of him often over the years and I will pray that his soul will rest in eternal peace. The epitome of class.
