Lynn Kughn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 18, 2025.
Lynn Renee Kughn (Heffley) passed away at her home, Forest Grove Farm in Cedarville, Ohio, on July 24, 2025, at 8:30 pm, at the age of 70, with her husband, Gary, by her side.

Lynn was born on April 8, 1955, at New Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, to Billy and Helen Heffley (Taylor).

Lynn graduated from Groves High School, Birmingham, Michigan, in 1973. She attended Western Michigan University and the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, majoring in Art and Photography.

Lynn and Gary married on July 11, 1975, at Christ Church in Dearborn, Michigan. After being born on the same hospital ward one month apart, and Gary painting a house four doors down from Lynn's home in Franklin, Michigan, during his sophomore year in high school, they providentially met the second night of their freshman year of college. This year, they both celebrated their 70th birthday and their 50th wedding anniversary.

Lynn was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. An avid outdoorswoman, Lynn enjoyed camping, cross-country skiing, hiking, and all things outdoors. In her younger years, she was a particularly good dirt bike and snowmobile rider. Lynn also enjoyed her creative endeavors, such as photography and gardening. Lynn loved the people in her life. She loved her friends and her family, both immediate and extended, who all, in return, loved her. Lynn's adult life was challenged by Multiple Sclerosis, which was diagnosed in 1982. Sadly, Lynn had progressive MS that presented circumstances that changed everyday life. She faced these challenges with courage. Lynn had a deep and abiding faith in God through Jesus Christ, which was a source of strength and hope. This was witnessed by her smile.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Gary, their four children and spouses, and twelve grandchildren: Janelle Ruth Reeser (Kughn), her husband, Matthew, and their children, Ruth, Anna, and Gabrielle. Jessica Lynn Baxter (Kughn), her husband Brian, and their children Rebekah, Hudson, Libby, and Aliyah. Charles Richard Kughn, his wife Arianna, and their children Macallan and Hutchison. Andrew Heffley Kughn, his wife Tori, and their children Pierson, Brooks, and Sawyer. Also, sisters Sandy Olson and husband Don, Suann Kughn and husband Bob, and brother Bert Heffley and wife Myra.

Lynn is preceded in death by parents, Billy and Helen Heffley, and granddaughter Emersyn Lilias Kughn.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 109 N. Main Street, Cedarville, Ohio 45314, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1 pm. There will be a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a luncheon following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
