BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Lynn Charles Kuhn, 65, of Birmingham, Ala., died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Aug. 2, 1942, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Everett Lee and Frances Martha (Turner) Kuhn. He married Sharon W. Whiting on June 25, 1966.

He was a member of the 1959 Woodstock High School North Suburban Conference Champion football team. After high school, he attended Toledo University in Ohio, where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He became a chief engineer for Ingalls Iron Works, where he was in charge of construction for numerous power plants across the United States. He lived in Birmingham for the past 40 years where he retired from being a civil engineer and became the owner and manager for the North Gate Estates Mobile Home Park in Pinson, Ala., until his health started to decline five years ago. In his spare time, he loved to collect antique automobiles and restore them. But most of all, he was a hardworking and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon W. Kuhn; three daughters, Cynthia Lyn Kuhn, Michelle Lee Kuhn and Katarina Frances Kuhn; a son, Richard Thomas Kuhn; a grandchild, Alex Richard Kuhn; his father, Everett Lee Kuhn; and a sister, Barbara Seagrist.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Martha Kuhn, and a brother, Dick Kuhn.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Ringwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1320 Dean St., Woodstock, IL 60098.
