Lynn Sturek Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2023.
Lynn Jeanenne Sturek passed away on January 16th, 2023 from complications associated with liver disease. She was 63 years old.

Lynn was born in New York on March 18th, 1959 to Charles and Jeanenne. She was the third of four children, and their only daughter. Lynn and her family moved every few years growing up, and thus she did not consider any one place home. She often spoke about adventures with her brothers in Japan, on Guam and in Port Hueneme, California. Lynn eventually landed in Lincoln, Nebraska where she attended the University of Nebraska. While a student, Lynn met Don and they fell in love. Lynn and Don were married on December 27th, 1980 in El Cajon, California. After a brief stay in Texas, Lynn and Don settled in Southern California and had three daughters, Kacie, Kristin and Kara.

Lynn loved cooking, gardening, making fused glass jewelry, plates and bowls, spending time with her friends, laughing with Don, and playing with her grandbabies. She is survived by her loving husband, Don, her three girls and their families, Kacie, Mauricio and Gael; Kristin, Stuart and Emmeline; and Kara, Dean and Joshua, and her brothers Kurt, Gil and Scott, and their families.

Lynn found community and purpose through her broad network of strong women in Alcoholics Anonymous. She has been sober for 25 years and loved spreading awareness, support and joy through advocacy for drug and alcohol prevention and treatment. Lynn's passion for volunteering can continue on with you. In lieu of flowers, please consider gifting an act of service in your community in her honor.

Living one day at a time,

Enjoying one moment at a time,

Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

Taking this world as it is,

Not as I would have it.

That I may be reasonably happy in this life,

And supremely happy forever in the next.

Amen.

It was with such great sadness I heard the news. I met Lynn through her brother Gil when her father was stationed in Charleston SC. She was my prom date in 1975. Her free spirit and big heart will always be remembered. Prayers for her family.

So many great memories of Lynn and your family going back to the UNL days and our first job in Dallas. Great meals at Thanksgiving there and in San Diego. She was the first person that made sweet potatoes in a way I could actually eat them; my mom (RIP) never could. She was an awesome mom and wife.
