Lynnette Iorillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2024.
On March 1, 2024, surrounded by family, Lynnette H. Iorillo entered the presence of her savior. Lynnette was born on July 18,1948 in St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, California, the daughter of Norman (Jack) and Wenona Halderman.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Wenona Halderman of California and Georgia and father Jack Halderman and step mother Jan Halderman of California, and sister-in-law Kathy Halderman of Arizona.

Lynnette grew up in Southern California in the Santa Ana, Anaheim, and Twenty-Nine Palms areas with her younger brothers Barrett and Bradley. She was a graduate of Santa Ana Valley High School in 1966. During her school years Lynnette participated in drama and chorus activities as well as in a work study program. She was an accomplished square dancer and participated as a member of an exhibition group traveling across the state of California. Lynnette had a beautiful voice and was complimented for her singing.

Lynnette's college experience was non-traditional as she worked through school while working full time, being a wife and mother, and while relocating several times with her family. She attended Santa Ana Junior College, Scottsdale Community College, California Polytechnic University, and Kean University in New Jersey. Lynnette achieved her goal to earn a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1982 when she graduated from Kean University. Upon graduation, she started her career as a substance abuse counselor until her decision to focus on her duties as a mother and later as a grandmother.

Lynnette married John Iorillo, Jr. on June 14, 1969, gave birth to her only child Anthony Wayne in 1973. She resided with her family in Scottsdale, Arizona, West Covina, California, Marlboro, New Jersey, and most recently in Marietta, Georgia. Lynnette volunteered at many organizations including the West Covina Junior Women's Club, a police ride along program, a program for training the special needs, served as Chair of the Freehold, New Jersey Newcomers Club membership committee and attended book club. She was the Sunday School director at Colts Neck Reformed Church in New Jersey, and was a counselor through East Side Baptist Church as well as at Cobb Street Ministries. She also served at the women's Extension in Marietta.

In recent years, she focused on bible study activities with friends (in a group known as "the Bible Babes") which gave her great joy. She loved studying God's word. Lynnette was also fortunate and able to spend time with her three grandchildren which was a wonderful source of happiness. She could be found cheering them on at fields and courts across the southeast. She enjoyed visiting gardens and had a green thumb, and was known to many as the "Plant Lady". She was an active member of The Marietta Flower Garden Club.

Lynnette fought a short battle against an aggressive type of cancer. She was an avid walker and did yoga. She even walked three days before her admittance to the hospital with her friends at the Mt Bethel Christian Academy indoor track. Early in her hospital stay she walked the halls when her health allowed.

Lynnette is survived by her husband John, son Anthony and daughter-in-law Penny, three grandchildren (John "Trey", Thomas, and Victoria), her brother Barrett Halderman (wife Kathy deceased) and their children Sandy Lynn, Matthew and Angela and their families, and her brother Bradley Halderman and his wife Maysa, and their children Lamont and Aiden and their families.

Lynnette, who now lives with her Lord and Savior Jesus, was a loving wife, an adoring mother, a wonderful mother-in-law, a beloved grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her. We are comforted knowing we will see her again one day.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us. Romans 8:18

My sister Lynnette was compassionate and loved dearly by her family.. Lynnette showed me to make spaghetti when she and John still lived in an apartment complex in Santa Ana, Ca. I still use her recipe some forty years now and am complimented by everyone who has enjoyed a shared meal. My wife and boys think it is the best ever. Thanks for sharing your recipe many years ago. Also, Maysa and I have two sons Paul and Aidan. I do have two boys from a previous relationship Lamont and Damien. I am a proud father to all four boys who have grown to be respectable members of society, each accomplished in their unique talents.
