Mable Clair Meade Fleming

Mable C. Rye Fleming passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at TerraBella Salisbury.  Mable is preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Renee Meade Beck; her parents, Robert J. Rye and Ida Mae Crouse Rye; four sisters, Gladys, Madeline, Ester, and Joann; and five brothers, Robert Harry, Raymond, Jackie, Eddie, and Jimmy.  She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Roosevelt Meade, and second husband, Robert Irving Fleming.

She was educated in the Tazwell County, Virginia school system and at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in North Carolina.  After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) she worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital for 21 years in Medical Surgery and in the Emergency Department.

She is survived by one sister, Gracie; son, Larry Rodney Meade of Opelousas, LA; granddaughter, Jessica Allen and her husband, Kevin; 2 great-grandsons, Peyton Allen, who was the love of her life, and Caleb Allen, whom she adored; step-daughter, Rosemary Durbeck of E. berlin, PA; and step-granddaughters, Debbie, Karen, and Sandy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 7, 2024, at Nicholson Funeral Home from 7:00pm to 8:00pm with Musical Selections and Scripture Readings beginning at 7:30pm.  A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2024, at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
