Mac Eddie Freeman passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the age of 79. Born on January 17, 1944 in Caddo, Oklahoma to parents, Eddie and Hazel Freeman. His family moved to California soon after. Mac attended Lathrop Elementary School, Manteca High School (Class of 1961), San Joaquin Delta College and worked at Tracy Defense Depot and Sharpe Army Depot for over 30 years.

He was happily married to Violet, the love of his life, for over 50 years until her death in 2019. They lived to see all three of their children happily married. He loved carpentry, flying, gardening, reading books, sports and spending time with his children and 10 grandchildren.

He was active in the Lathrop Brethren Church for over 40 years. He helped build a new church on J Street and served as Camp Director for Camp Berea in the 1980's.

Throughout his adult life, he was involved with his town of Lathrop, including being a charter member of the City Council and serving as its third mayor. He served the city in many capacities and also helped it become a city. He lived in Lathrop for over 70 years and loved every bit of it. He will be remembered for his laughter, good humor and friendliness. Surviving children are Aaron (Amy) Freeman of Manteca, Ca., Jason (Sawndella) Freeman of Copperopolis, Ca. and favorite daughter, Dena (Brent) Ugalde of Modesto, Ca. Ten grandchildren are Jaycob, Sierra, Skyler, Cooper, Brooke, William, Jack, Alexander, Chanel and Chloe.

If I say something about Mac I couldn't possibly without adding Violet. Mac & Violet Freeman were and will always be the closest to perfect examples of the most important things in life...family, community, faith, love and doing the right thing. They lived by their words and their values. I admired them as much as I admired my mom...and that's the ultimate respect I can give anyone. Better examples of human kindness I can't bring to mind. They will be greatly missed. My love, condolences and great respect to their family.❤

My first memory of Mac was when I was 5 yrs old and he showed me where my Sunday school class was. That was at Lathrop Brethren Church. I think Pastor Garrett was our pastor at that time. I loved Mac and Violet and I won't ever forget him.
I'm so sorry he's gone. Sincerely,
Laurie Dawn,
Marcia, Patty, (Karon who passed last year), Roberta and Joyce.
