There are almost no words to describe how much I feel this loss from our family tree. He was the last of an entire generation, that included my father. My siblings and cousins all knew him as "Uncle Vernon;" he was called by his middle name, Vernon, by all in our immediate family. Once he joined the military he was addressed as Mack, and from then on he stuck with that--but to us he was always "Uncle Vernon."

To me, and many of my cousins who grew up with him in our lives, he was one of a kind. Always kind to us, always thoughtful and unlike many adults, he took the time to be interested in our lives as we were growing up. My mother would often say "he is the best of the bunch" and we all agreed. He was in the military much of that time, but we counted the days with our grandmother, anxiously waiting for the time he could come home on leave.

I am so glad he was in my life for so many years. I will cherish his memory.

A Southern gentleman, with integrity, character, and dedicated work ethics, true to his country and fellow man. Have known Mack for 64 years since I met him at 509 Market Street in 1961. My sincere condolences to Todd, Yon and all his family. I will miss Mack.

Randy Barrow and Nannette Gabler

Mack became a wonderful friend as Randy Barrow and I, Nannette Gabler, Randy's wife, visited him during this past year. Mack loved Randy's colorful flowers he planted outside his windows so he could see them from inside.
Mack loved to color his pictures and give us one or two now and then that he made especially for us. He showed us kindness and we all would look forward to enjoying one another's company in our developing friendship.
Dearest Mack is greatly missed, yet our comfort is in knowing he is at peace.
