Dr. Mack Alec Truluck Sr., D.O.

Dr. Mack Alec Truluck, Sr., D.O. passed away May 22, 2014 at the age of 95 in Hammond, La at Belle Maison Nursing Home. He was born January 4, 1919 in Olanta, SC and raised in Charleston, SC. He graduated from Charleston High School as president of his senior class and captain of the boxing team. He completed undergraduate work at Northeast State College in Kirksville, MO and graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville MO on February 3, 1945 specializing in Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy. He was a pilot in the Civil Pilot Training Program while attending college during World War II era. He interned at Still Hildreth in Macon, MO. He met Jane Adeline Hart of Williamstown, MO, a student at Northeast State College. They were married October 24, 1945. He practiced several years in Charleston, SC, then from 1948-1983 in Baton Rouge and in Ponchatoula, LA from 1983 to 2008 until the age of 89. They made many Fall trips back to Kirksville for visiting and continuing education of manipulative treatment. He took great joy in being able to treat and help most of his patients for 62 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jane Hart Truluck, children Mack, Jr., Mona, Grier, son-in-law Marcus Smith, grandchildren Justin and Matthew Neely, Leigh Truluck Anderson, Katy Truluck and great grandchildren Levi Neely and Emma Jane Anderson. He was preceded in death by daughter Mardel Truluck Smith, parents Thomas and Annie Truluck, brother Milton Truluck and sister Ann Truluck Wagner. Per his request Dr. Truluck's body was donated to the LSU Medical School in New Orleans, a memorial service is pending. The Family would like to thank the staff at Belle Maison, Generation Hospice, Chaplain Chris Chavos, caregiver, Louise Wood and Patricia Vining.
