Gleason, Madeleine "Lynne" (Marons) Age 88, of Sharon, died on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in the Intensive Care Unit of Norwood Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Emily and Raphael Marons. Madeleine was born on November 25, 1925 in New Haven, Connecticut. She grew up in New Rochelle, NY and graduated from New Rochelle High School, Mount Holyoke College, and earned her Master's degree in Education at New York University and all necessary course credits for a PhD in social work and psychology at Boston University. After graduation from college, during World War II, she worked for the Army Map Service in Washington, DC, and later The New York City Housing Authority. After entering education she taught English and reading in public schools in Pelham and New Rochelle, NY, Bala Cynwyd, PA and Sharon, MA. After her studies at Boston University she became the first School Adjustment Counsellor in the Norwood, MA school system where she worked for the rest of her career. Beloved wife of Gerald Gleason since their wedding on August 29, 1947, sister of Robert Marons and mother of James Gleason of Waltham, MA, his companion Nira Folan, and son, Richard Gleason who preceded her in death. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Ellen Gleason of Mansfield, MA, grandchildren, Sarah McCann and her husband Joseph of Bellingham, MA and Michael Gleason and his wife Carolyn of Superior, CO, as well as great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Julia McCann, and her husband's brother Neil and his wife Donna and their family who live in Virginia and North Carolina who shared a Florida winter home with Madeleine and Gerald for years. Those who knew Lynne will also remember her not only as an inspiring wife, mother and teacher but also as a great sportswoman who excelled in various activities such as tennis, sailing, swimming, bicycling, skiing, jogging, badminton plus Ham Radio and traveling. She was also a musician and was a long time pianist as well as a sometimes piano teacher and also played the trumpet and cornet in the Canton, MA American Legion band. In addition she was for years an active actress in The Walpole Footlighters amateur theatre group. A wonderful woman who helped so many students in the Norwood School system. She was an angel with a giving heart. She will be missed by all she had touched.
