Growing up with Jon and Andrea as my friends, Madeleine became like a second mom to me. She always had an open door, a welcoming smile and a listen ear to me especially during the turbulent waters of adolescence and early adulthood. I have many endearing memories of her home in Ballard and her joyful, kind and life-filled nature is cherished by many like myself who were fortunate enough to know this beautiful soul. Thank you Madeleine.

She was my friend, this beautiful soul. We shared a long friendship of 25 years.

She was brilliant, and her intellect seemed to be one of her highest values regarding herself. She could outwit anyone, and enjoyed using her sharp mind to make others laugh, help someone figure something out, consistently learn, or just plain have fun with her intelligent humor.

She could make me laugh so hard I thought I would split in two! We shared so much laughter, and a quiet understanding that we both got it. Our special memory of hysterical laughter regarding an incident where we talked about smelling the good smell, is a memory I will cherish for my lifetime.

She wanted to get it, that is; to get life, and she always seemed to. Her wisdom and insight were often astonishing.

She was capable.....entirely capable. She could do and did do anything she put her mind to. She could make an event happen with such ease, and enjoyed so much watching her family and others enjoy the fruits of her efforts. She could write beautifully, learn anything she wanted to, create anything she wanted to.

She was utterly artistic! From making stained glass windows, to decorating for a holiday, to knowing exactly how to put the perfect outfit together, to setting a gorgeous table when having guests to dinner. She always made such a beautiful home!

She was vulnerable.....her tender heart was always in the lead, and she felt anything and everything that came across her path. Such inner beauty!

She was gracious, totally socially adept, poised, and, as we all know, gorgeous!

Mostly she was kind...this was the attribute of hers that drew me most to her.

She loved us all, but she adored all of her children and grandchildren. She would do anything she could to enhance their lives, and her heart and world revolved around them.

Though no words can completely describe any person, especially one with the depth that Maddie brought to this world, this is a snippet of what I knew of her, and what I loved and admired about her. It is merely a snippet of this amazing woman called Maddie.

Maddie loved God with all her heart.

I wish you everlasting peace my friend, and that includes smelling the good smell for eternity.

Madeleine was my loyal and trusted legal secretary for many years. More then that she was a loving and caring friend who was constantly going out of her way to help others. John and Andrea provided the most warm and loving care to her as she has struggled over the last years.

Madeleine, I will forever treasure the time we spent together the last few years. Because of your kind, loving, appreciative and silly nature, caring for you and helping you brought me such joy. We laughed and cried, and shared so much time together in the car, at the Drs office, at dialysis, eatting lunch and of course listening to everyone, everywhere we went tell you how beautiful you were!! ❤ So true!! Thank you Madeleine, for being my friend. I love you and I will miss you always. I know heaven is so happy to have a beautiful, new angel! Love, Julie Diaz

Madeleine and I went all the way through Catholic grade school, high school, and college together. She was one of a kind, and I loved her every minute of that long friendship! Though our meetings over the past generations of motherhood and grandmotherhood were very few and far between, whenever we did meet, her greeting -- "Hey, Kid! -- was the same as it was clear back in our middle-school days at St. Benedict's School. The enthusiastic hello was always accompanied by her beautiful smile and a big hug!

So we will meet again one of these soon fine days, Madeleine. Can't wait to hear, "Hey, Kid!" from you again.

Love, Cass (Donahue) Seely

Dearest Mom,
I feel such and emptiness without you by my side. I miss you terribly. You have always been my steady rock and my bright light at every twist and turn throughout life. May you find peace and comfort in the arms of Jesus. I want you to be able to run, laugh, smile, and be free as the healthy Madeleine. No more pain...no more illnesses... and no more suffering. Reassuring you it was okay to leave was the hardest thing Ive ever done. Remember to watch over my boys and to send me your loving gestures. I love you with all my being.

I will greatly miss Madeleine as I had many dinners in her home with "the girls", mostly from Mullavey, Prout, Grenley and Foe Law Office. That is where I met her in 1993 when I started working there. She was so generous and caring, and I loved her dearly. She once wrote a special poem to me. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. Finally, Madeleine is not suffering.

Madeleine will be missed. She always took the time to ask how I was doing. She loved her family and grandchildren. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family during this time of sorrow. Diane

I haven't seen Madeleine since high school but all of the kind comments are not surprising --- that's how I remember her, as well. May she rest in peace.

Madeleine and I were good friends in our early 20s. We became great friends when we discovered we were dating the same guy. True story. She had an amazing, loving spirit even at that young age.

My heart goes out to her family who I regrettably never met.

Madeleine - you were a light and a warrior.

Because we were friends and neighbors with the Weiss Family, we had the privilege of getting to know Madeline a bit. She was always so sweet to our family the few times we saw her. We know shell be missed dearly by her loved ones, but praise be to God that the victory is now hers and she is free of pain and suffering. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with you and comfort you.
