AGE: 87 • Raritan Twp.

Madelyn F. Maak, age 87 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Old Orchard Care Center, Easton, PA. Born in Bayonne, NJ, April 8, 1925, daughter of the late Frank and Lena Riedel Fernau, she had formerly resided in Harmony Township, NJ, Flemington, NJ and Spring Hill, FL before moving to Easton in 2008. An employee for over thirty years of Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ, she first was employed by the Health Department, then worked in the Zoning Board office and finally moved to the Clerks Office where she served as Municipal Clerk of the Township. She was a member of the New Jersey State Clerks Association; a member of the Somerset Post of the American Legion Auxiliary; and was formerly active at the Hunterdon County Senior Center.

Her husband, John R. Maak, Sr., died in 1997. She was also pre-deceased by a son, John R. Maak, Jr. and a sister, Veronica Lehto, both in 2011. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela M. and Edward J. Barabas of Raritan Township, NJ; a son, Michael J. Maak of Somerville, NJ; a sister, Delores Bartolo of Spring Hill, FL; seven grandchildren, Jessica Peterson, John R. Maak, III, Laura Maak, Jade Maak, Scott E. Barabas and his fiancée Jennifer Weadon, Christopher J. Barabas and wife Serena, and Matthew J. Barabas; five great granddaughters and one great grandson.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday at 8:00 p.m in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be Private in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information or to send condolences.
