WALLINGFORD - Mae Avenia Esposito, 93, formerly of Elika Road, Wallingford, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Skyview Center in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. S. Albert Esposito.

She was born in Torrington, Oct. 22, 1917, a daughter of the late Vincent and Anna Maccalous Avenia, and had been a Wallingford resident since 1954. She was a graduate of Torrington High School and had been the secretary to the president of Emerson Radio Co. A founding parishioner of Church of the Resurrection, she had served as the first president of the Ladies Guild of the parish. She had also been a past president of the Most Holy Trinity Church Mother's Circle. Mae was an avid gardener who loved to entertain in her home. She was a very loving woman who enjoyed a wonderful relationship with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dana Humphrey, of Palmyra, Maine; her son, and daughter-in-law, William C. and Shari Esposito, of Northford; two granddaughters, Patricia L. DeBias and her husband, Kyle C. Debias, of Milford, and Kristina L. Esposito and David Patterson, of Branford; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Calvin) Douglas, of Juno, Fla., and Vanzi Hynson and her husband, Jim, of Lewes, Del.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Beatrice Cianciolo; and her brother, John Avenia, both of Torrington.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, April 4, from 8:30 until 9:45 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
