Maisie Mitchell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 7, 2011.
Mitchell, Maisie Ardella, 78, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on April 2, 2011. Born in Oxford, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Mayhew and Beatrice (Sterling) Mitchell. Maisie was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed life. She shared her enthusiasm with first her family, then with other organizations such as the Toastmasters, The Red Hat Society and as a broadcaster with NWBC, starting in December of 1998 and continuing until her admittance to the hospital in October 2010. Her gift and love of music led her to play the piano, guitar and numerous other instruments for many church and Northwood functions. She was an active member of the Nazarene Church for many years. Maisie especially loved the springtime of the year, always looking forward to the first flowers of the season. She is survived by her three sons, Richard (Diane) Seguin, Cornwall, ON, Michael (Pauline) Seguin, Lower Sackville, NS, and Daniel (Debbie) Seguin, Lower Sackville, NS; brothers Vernon (Jean) Mitchell, Amherst, NS, Kensel (Ann) Mitchell, Vancouver, BC, Arthur Mitchell, Mount Pleasant, NS and Emerson Mitchell, Oxford, NS; sister Beatrice (Alex) Hughes, Amherst, NS; grandchildren, Tiffanie, Kayla, Jason, Derek, Brittany, Toni and Nicky. Maisie was predeceased by her brother Aubrey (Liz) Mitchell, Moncton, NB. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8pm in Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, where funeral service will be held Wednesday April 6, 2011 at 2:30pm. Interment will take place at a later date at the Glenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Lung Association or the Northwood Broadcasting Club, 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax, NS B3K 3S5. Maisie was a good friend and we miss her still very much. Always loved when we sang "Where the Roses Never Fade" together. We know you are playing the piano for the angles to sing in heaven.

Nana, my boyfriend and I prayed for you to recover and I had a strong feeling you would, but you were too lovely and your Maker was waiting for your charming company so we know it was just time. I will always remember your feistiness, charm and way of breathily saying "yup!" hehe :-) I hope us grandkids will make you proud as you watch over us until we meet again. I know you already know this, but my father sure loves his mother! Please keep him strong as he has now lost both parents :'(

I love you, Nana.

your grand-daughter,

Tiffanie

We're so sorry to hear of Maisie's passing. She would not have wanted to stay on this earth if she couldn't get better - she is in a better place now. Wish we could be there for support - you're in our thoughts and prayers.
