Mamie Lee Cunningham, 102, of Fort Sumner, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare in Clovis.
Mamie was born Aug. 7, 1901, in Milan, Tenn., to Eric and Amanda Bradshaw Thacker.
She married James L. Cunningham on January 3, 1923 in Wellston, Okla. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1945. Family members said she became a Christian as a teenager and lived a long Christian life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, who died June 16, 1973; a daughter, Inez Brockman, who died June 26, 2003; a brother, Bill Pence; and three sisters, Flora Brady, Cleda Brookey and Opel Paye.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Mayhon of Clovis; a brother, Hershel Pence of Hugo, Okla.; a sister, Essie Smith of Houston; five grandchildren, Linda Hopkins, Jim Brockman, Joe Brockman, Mike Brockman and Ed Brockman, all of California; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Anna Teeter officiated the services.
Burial followed in the family plot at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church on the Hill, P.O. Box 467, Fort Sumner, NM 88119 or the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119.
Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner handled arrangements.
