I know this is very late but we are sorry to hear of Dad's passing. We remember him well from the Department.
He actually "broke the ice" when hubby and I met at a dance at the Hibernian's on Adam's Street. You see I am Patricia Doherty, Daughter of Newton Patrolman Matthew Ambrose Doherty and hubby is a cousin of the Kileys and son of Newton Patrolman Joseph B. Kelly, Sr.
I have thought of Manley Sr., probably more often than you think.
Our sincere heartfelt condolences.

Manley, Manley, Manley...I can't believe your cheerful, noisy visits to the Detective Bureau are over. I'll miss the joy on your face as you sneaked up on "The Viking" for a surprise attack. Those days are gone, but you're in a better place now. No crime. And don't you even think of introducing it. And as for those exquisite Heavenly plants -- there are no scissors or microwave ovens in Heaven. So, you'll just have to let those plants be! Aside from that minor frustration, I know you'll have a lovely Ever After. We'll all miss you, Manley.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Kiley family at this time. I can remember Manley growing up in Auburndale , he would always stop over and talk with my Dad. John G. Schofield (formally Newton Mass.)

It is with great sadness that we send our condolences to Manley's family. We will always remember his great wit and ready smile that he shared with all that he met.

Manley was "old school" both as a policeman and as a Marine. He would often wander down to the Patrol Bureau area and lighten things up with that cross between a smile and a grin. Every visit was a joy to all he came in contact with.

Manley Kiley was a man of high principles, and always known as a man of his word. I recall meeting him many times, and always leaving a bit wiser.

My father Alan Licarie was the Executive Secretary for the Election
Commission in the City of Newton. Manley had the job of driving my dad
from polling place to polling place starting a 4 AM. They always stopped for hot dogs at Guiseppe's down the lake. It was like a tradition every election day. You were a good friend to my dad, especially when my mother died and dad got very sick. I also liked helping you with your family tree. I work in the City Clerk’s Department. in Newton City Hall. I will miss your laugh and smile. You were a great man.

We just want to express our sincere condolences on the loss of Manley. He was our favorite courier and we will surely miss his wit and humor. He made us smile every time he delivered packages to us. I worked with Manley at BayBank in the mid 1990's. We used to talk and laugh all the time at work and I always loved to hear his stories of his detective days in Newton. Manley was a truly great guy and I was very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Irene and Family. What a loss to so many. Manley was "one of a kind" and just the best. Many wonderful memories will remain of the years spent together, especially those years with the Department. We are so saddened by his passing and sorry that we cannot be with you at this time due to the distance. Our thoughts are with you.

A man of compassion, love of life, wit and boldness. I will never forget his ability to capture your attention with a joke or a thought. His pride was amazing and his way of leaqding his life according to Manley could be a lesson to us all.
