Manly Brunt, Obituary
Born in Winston-Salem, N.C., he was the son of the late Manly Y. Brunt, Sr. and Jessie Brunt (nee Evans).
Dr. Brunt is survived by his wife Jacklyn B. Manly (nee Bray), his children Diane S. Brunt of Well Fleet, Mass., William B. (Leslie) Brunt of Dallas, Texas, Douglas E. (Megyn) Brunt of New York, N.Y. and Kenneth S. Brunt of Santa Monica, Calif., his grandson Edward Yates Brunt and his sister Connie B. (David) Harris.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at Wayne Presbyterian Church. Interment was private.

When I was a teenager in the 1960s, I used to give sailing lessons to make a few extra bucks. That's how I met Dr. Brunt. He had just purchased a 19-foot lightning, had never sailed before, and was in the process of sailing off into a brewing thunder storm. I stepped in and we began a lovely friendship. Manly would often schedule a lesson on a weekend. He would arrive each week with a different companion and a wonderful picnic lunch. We spent many hours sailing out of Brant Beach Yacht Club, sailing on Barnegat Bay. We lost touch when I went off to college, but I have thought of him often. Having read his obituary, I'm so pleased that he lived a long, happy and productive life. My condolences to Manly's wife, Jacklyn, children and grandchildren. I can only hope he passed along his love of sailing, LBI and Barnegat Bay to his family.

I belatedly viewed this obituary with some measure of shock and a greater measure of sadness...for Dr. Brunt has been a true friend and trusted confidant for many years. My heartfelt condolences to his family...for his passing will no doubt be a significant loss to all who knew him...no doubt he has left behind many fond memories for all.
