NEW BEDFORD -- Manuel G. Amaral, 70, of New Bedford, died Monday, December 4, 2006, unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Hazel (Duchaine) Amaral.
Born in Fairhaven, the son of the late Manuel and the late Lily (Mello) Amaral, he lived most of his life in the town before moving to New Bedford 20 years ago.
Mr. Amaral was a spray painter for many years at Ace Auto Body and later retired from Danny's Auto Body.
He is survived by two step sons, Danny Souza and his wife, Tammy of Wareham and David Souza and his wife, Ann of Freetown; a sister, Eileen M. Perry of Fairhaven; a sister in law, Barbara A. Amaral of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Adam, Kerry and Erin Souza and several cousins. Mr. Amaral was the brother of the late Raymond Amaral.
His funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
