Manuel Castillo Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
Manuel "Manny" Delfino Castillo Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully left this world on January 23, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born on July 2, 1948, Manuel was raised in a loving family and remained especially close to his parents, Manuel Sr. and Angelita Castillo. He graduated proudly from Fox Tech High School in 1968, marking the beginning of a lifetime of dedication to his family, country, and career.

A proud Navy veteran, Manuel served honorably from 1968 to 1972 aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty, resilience, and camaraderie-values he carried throughout his life.

Following his service, Manuel built a successful career as a mechanical engineering technician, dedicating over 30 years to the San Antonio Independent School District, where his expertise and strong work ethic left a lasting impact. He was also an active and proud member of the VFW, where he found kinship with fellow veterans.

Beyond his professional and military achievements, Manuel was known for his love of Tejano music. A true enthusiast, he found joy in the rhythm, energy, and culture that Tejano music represented. He was not just a fan-he actively volunteered at Tejano events, capturing memorable moments through his passion for photography. His dedication to preserving the spirit of Tejano music was a reflection of his deep appreciation for his heritage and community.

Manuel was more than his accomplishments-he was the life of every gathering, bringing warmth, laughter, and a calm, confident presence to friends and family alike. His love for his family was boundless, and he found his greatest joy in their happiness.

Manuel was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Severina Castillo, and his loving parents, Manuel Sr. and Angelita Castillo.

He leaves behind a legacy of love in his daughter, Angela (Shawn) Hernandez-Allen, and his three treasured grandchildren: Cecilia, Thomas, and Penelope. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Castillo, Edward Castillo, and David (Rose) Zamora, as well as his sister, Ruth (Rick) Hernandez, all of whom shared in the beautiful memories of their childhood and stood by one another through life's journey.

Though we will miss him dearly, we find comfort in the memories he left behind. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will forever live on in our hearts.

Rest peacefully, Manuel. You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
