So sad to hear of Mannie's passing. I bought one of his books called So you want Snow Scenes to Paint, published by Walter T Foster, about fifty years ago ! It's a bit tattered now, but it's a prized possession. I have painted almost every painting in the book and now, I'm going to do another one as his paintings of Calgary and Alberta in the snow are so inspiring. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I thought about him for some reason (I don't know) this morning met him in Calgary in 2000. I got to know him briefly. He helped me emotionally during a dark time in my life. He was a wonderful person.

As my father was a very talented artist, I didn't fall too far from the tree. Art was my life as it had been his. Only I managed to find solice in interior design with my Cougar Ridge Townhouse, where I incorporated many of his works of art, as well as my favourite artist I have collected over the years. He taught me how to compose a photograph for which I am eternally grateful. He had a temper which I don't miss, I just wish him eternal peace.

Sorry to hear about uncle Mannies passing, just to late to get to meet him. He is the brother of my grandfather, George Gonsalves who lived in South Africa. Condolences to the rest of the family.

I didn't know this artist personally, but I have so enjoyed the instruction he shared through "So you Want to Paint Winter Scenes." I wish I would have found his amazing use of color and light earlier in my career. Bless you and your family.

Mannie was bigger than life and will be held dearly in many of our hearts. During the middle of my odd career, he and his family jumped in and got me seriously going. When Mannie talked about art...and life....nobody left the room. His words felt deeply from within, and for years, I listened and learned. Watching him praint out in nature inspired many of us. What a full life Mannie has lived; loved by family and friends. To each member of the family, we have many wonderful memories. The great man will be missed, yet in so many ways, he's with us through his good spirit and his art.

So sorry to hear today from Arthur of Uncle Mannie's passing. Losing a parent is so very difficult, but glad you were able to share so much of your lives with such a talented man for so long.

It is very sad to hear of Mannie's passing. I have fond memories of the many times we went outdoor painting, and also of the years I spent living down the road from him, when we would drop over to each other's studios on a fairly regular basis. He was a great encouragement, a positive mentor, and truly hated hard edges in a painting! I'm smiling now as I remember working on a painting outdoors and Mannie standing behind me (without my knowledge) when he suddenly loudly exclaimed, "Stop! Not another stroke!"

Mannie will be remembered forever by many artists who worked with him, and I'm pleased to have been one of them.

Saddened, but so fortunate to have known Uncle Mannie. He was always such a captivating, interesting character. Talent, humour, desire and intelect. He was one of kind, appreciated beauty in many things and gave back forever on canvas. How fortunate for us! I will never forget him. Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your Dad.

What a wonderful, talented and unique individual Uncle Mannie was and still is. I am sure he is in heaven with Gordon and Maria discussing all things with a vibrant intellect and his marvelous sense of humour. Mannie was one of the first grown-ups to talk to me as though I was a person and I will always remember him fondly and with great respect. I am so sorry for the loss of your Father and Grandfather and send our condolences and blessings for peace and serenity. Love Sandra and Dave Benstead
