Marc Steven Ruby

Marc Steven Ruby, 74, of The Woodlands, TX passed away on November 6, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Ruby; sons Jarrod and Matthew; his twin brother Erik Sundgaard; daughters-in-law Jennifer Alzona and Jocelyn Ruby; his former wife and close friend, Judith Ruby; and his grandchildren; Claire, Spencer, and Adrian.

Marc was born in New Haven, CT on August 8, 1949 to Georgia Sundgaard and Henry Ruby. As a kid he was an avid baseball player. He attended Hamden's public schools from Putman Ave School in lower Hamden to Hamden High School where he graduated in 1967. Marc was a Hamden resident for much of his life before moving to Texas in 2013 after retiring.

Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and worked as an aircraft mechanic in SAC (Strategic Air Command) until he was honorably discharged four years later. Throughout his life he remained proud of his service.

Upon reentering civilian life, he worked for SNET (later SBC) in southern Connecticut for over 30 years, first as an installer then as a cable repairman.

As a lifelong lover of animals, he supported various animal shelters and animal welfare organizations. He also loved nature and the out-of-the-way places of New England. Spofford Lake in New Hampshire was a favorite place which he frequently visited, and those visits have given his children – and now their children – decades of priceless experiences that continue to this day.

Marc was reserved, a gentleman, a good friend and was as good as his word. Additionally, he often made everyone laugh with his wit and dry sense of humor.

He will be missed by his family, though we take great comfort in the belief that through his strong Christian faith, he has moved on to a more peaceful place.
