Marcel Dubord

DUBORD, Marcel (Mark) February 3, 1925 - September 21, 2006 "Former President of the Edmonton Real Estate Board". Mark died at the age of 81 years at the Grey Nuns after battling a variety of health problems. He was very happy to have remained at home in the devoted care of Yvonne his loving wife of 55 years, until two days prior to his death. Born in Beaumont, Mark lived on a farm with his parents and four sisters during the depression and attended high school in Leduc. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Signalman on corvettes on convoy duty in the North Atlantic during WWII, and was discharged December 1945. He traveled extensively for Canadian Fairbanks Morse for several years before entering the real estate business in Edmonton in 1950 for Melton Real Estate. He joined Royal Realty in 1959 and he later joined Royal Trust as Edmonton Area Manager. Mark then began Mark Dubord Realty and Development Ltd. He and his family moved to Bon Accord in 1973 where he began hobby farming 80 acres. During his 30 plus years in real estate, he served 14 years as Director and two terms as President of the Edmonton Real Estate Board in 1969 and 1970 and was made a life member in 1977. Mark had numerous interests including flying, fishing, trap shooting, traveling, and enjoyed socializing with a huge extended family and enormous number of friends. A man of great vitality, integrity and business acumen, he was very generous in helping others in both career and personal lives. Mark leaves to mourn his wife Yvonne. Children Karen Wynn, Gregory Mark, and Janet and grandchildren Nicole, Wyatt, Marcel, Chantalle. Sisters Cecile, Rollande, Lucille, and Edna. His much-loved son Ronald prececeased him in 1997. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Memorial Harmony Chapel (10541 - 81 Avenue).
