Margaret Louise (Brown) Barry LDRD Aka Madge; Maggie; and in later Years MADAM HI TECH passed away in Dothan AL on August 22, 2023.

She was born in Flint Michigan and went to elementary and Hi School in Michigan. In 1962 She graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She went to Danvers State Hospital and Became a research Dietitian. She had 15 Schizophrenic Patients that had to agree to eat everything given and the have their cholesterol and other indicators measured. This research later evolved into the Framingham Heart Study

Her son William talked about this work in his Program Management class examining how the various committees conflict each other. Human Rights vs the dietitian wanting the client to eat everything i.e. giving up freedom of choice in food a basic human right. 60 years later it is still affecting society.

Over the years she Gained experience as a Dietitian and worked for Seiler's as a consultant. she eventually ended up At St Vincents Hospital Worcester MA. She Stayed there 20 Years Eventually getting Promoted to Food Service director.

During Her Tenure in SV (1980-2000) She tried Many innovations to improve Hospital Food service and even Dietetics. Some improvements were Technological and others menu driven such as Monotony Breakers. SVH had a Cycle Menu and holidays like ST Patrick's Day, or the Feast of St Anthonys of Padua were used as Monotony Breakers.

Some technological examples are s a carousel tray line for speeding up trays per minute and n 1987 the diet office was computerized to help with Calorie Counts. She took COBOL at Framingham State University to help with understanding of Programming.

Another example is Chad the Robot. He was brought in for delivering trays after Hours, which did not succeed because of Sabotage. The employees felt like He was going to take their jobs.

She helped Set up the New Worcester Medical Center and put in Many 16-hour days personally checking Equipment deliveries. She was also asked by the Board of Directors to buy $1.5M worth of Retherm Carts from Burlodge Canada. She researched them and was told they were only installed in England and France. She told the Board she would not buy them before seeing them in action. Off we went to England and France. It was explained to her it is a requirement for a FSD in France to be a Chef first. She was also told the French Board of Health would shut Down the old SVH because the trash area was built too close to the Kitchen.

In her off hours she was calling Senators and Representatives in Massachusetts explaining to them why RDs needed to be Licensed. She saw it as a way to Prevent quacks in the industry and in 2001 They were officially Licensed Medical Professionals,

She brought many people along in Food/Culinary and Dietetics and was a Mentor to Many. Billy Worked there from 1986-1993 and Helped Setting up the New SVH.

After SVH she Became a Call Center Representative for Childrens Hospital in Boston MA. She was a Dietitian for 52 years.

In 2017 She Finally retired to the South eventually ending up in Dothan Al and learning how to Play Americal Contract Bridge League and Playing in Tournaments In Florida and Alabama.

She Leaves Behind Family Members Carol Lynn Brown Waryas Her Sister; Paul Waryas Brother-in-Law; Melissa Lynn Waryas Burmeister a Niece; Tate Burmeister her Wife; Michael Chadwick Waryas a nephew; Swetha Sridhan his wife. Also are assorted Grandchildren. Also Left Behind are her devoted son William Joseph Barry Jr and 2d Husband Peter Behrend.
