Carl was born in Fitchburg on Aug. 15, 1921, a son of the late Cataldo and Mary Lucy (Solimene) Mazzilli. He was educated in Fitchburg schools. Carl was one of six brothers to have served during World War II. Carl was a military policeman in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tehran, Iran, supplying the Russians with much needed food and war materials. He was the owner and operator of the Carl A. He was also a member of the Cleghorn American Legion Post, a member of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks, and the Leominster Eagles. He always had a smile and a great sense of humor; he was a hard-working man. Carl will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved dogs and cats.

My deepest sympathies to Ginny, Pam, and the rest of the family. My family lived next door to Carl and his family for over 25 years and he always had time to talk and say hello. I will always remember how kind he was to my grandmother and his Italian "words of wisdom." He will be deeply missed. My condolences to your family.

Uncle Carl was my godfather and the light of our life. We can always remember him for all the love he gave each and every one of us. All the holidays and celebrations there he was with his camera taking the family pictures. And don't worry about the snow, along came Uncle Carl to the rescue with his plow and he got you out of the mess! He always had cute jokes and when my children were little they referred to him as Uncle Carl with the chopped off finger and he would laugh about it. When we lost my dad, Uncle Carl was our boulder and support. He loved family and was always there when you needed him no matter what the problem, you could always rely on him. We loved him more than life itself and he will be missed more than words can express. To my wonderful loving Aunt Ginny and cousin Pam, Danny and Emily I send my love, prayers and heartfelt words of compassion. I know how difficult this time is for all of you. Uncle Carl was like a dad to me too and he is without a doubt a tremendous loss to us all but will live on within our hearts forever.
My love to all of you,
Celia
