Margaret Barbara East

Mass of Christian burial for Margaret Barbara East, 75, of Lufkin will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. East was born October 5, 1932 in Galveston, Texas, to Georgina (Gildea) and James Switzer, and died Saturday, December 29, 2007 in a local hospital. Mrs. East had resided in Lufkin since 1994. She retired after a 30 year career in hospital administration with service at hospitals including Ben Taub Hospital and Memorial City Medical Center in Houston, Texas and Memorial Health Systems of East Texas in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. East was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and the Order of Carmel Discalced Secular. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Elizabeth East of El Dorado, Arkansas and Michael and Jean East of Lufkin; son, Terrence East of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Therese and Bill Cleaver of Marietta, Georgia and Catherine and John Stansfield of York, England; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Bill Clarke of New York; and brother and sister-in-law, Noel and Janet Switzer of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Georgina (Gildea) and James Switzer; and brother, William Switzer. Pallbearers will be Michael Shane East, Trey Matthew East, Matthew Owen Cleaver, Stephen Gragg, William Henry Cleaver and Nick Luker.
