Margaret Ann Embury (Whitefoot), age 71 of Canton, passed away on September 14, 2023.
She was born in Detroit, MI to Howard and Charlotte Whitefoot. She attended Cass Tech High School where she met the love of her life, David Embury, who passed away in December 1997. David and Margaret married during his service in the United States Army, and they started their life together stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. Margaret was a loving mother to Alicia Allen (Jeff), Anne Zahn (Dan), and David (“Russ”) Embury (who passed away in November 2017). Margaret was the proudest of grandmothers to Alicia and Jeff’s daughters and son-in-law – Hallie (Andrew) and Kayla, Anne and Dan’s sons – Aiden and Jonah, and Makayla (daughter of Tawny Rogers who was David’s (Russ) partner). Her housemate of many years, Jeff Worthy, is part of the family too. Margaret is also survived by her brothers Howard (Carol) and David (Judy) Whitefoot.
Margaret worked as a Pharmacy Technician for 27 years at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. She was proud of her work and the opportunity to serve veterans of our armed forces. Her heart to serve went beyond her work, and she was a person who never turned away anyone in need. She gave her time and talents to those from all walks of life and saw great value in every person that she came to know.
She was also an avid reader and loved crosswords and word searches.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, September 17th from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M and on Monday, September 18th at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service in celebration of her life at 11:00 A.M. The family looks forward to sharing stories and laughs with all who loved Margaret. Those who loved her have stories to share.
Margaret took many burdens of this world to heart. If you would consider donating to the American Red Cross in support of disaster relief, she would be happy to know that her heart of service is honored. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
