Margaret Ann Lee

Mrs. Margaret Ann (Barger) Lee, 81, of Fletcher passed away on Monday July 11, 2016 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville. A native of Salt Lake City, UT she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mae Nielsen Barger. She graduated from South High School. Margaret left her imprint on the hearts of many with her love of people and devotion to family. She was a dedicated Air Force wife for 24 years enduring the many uncertainties of military life, the parade of new places, new faces, and new schools for the children. She was a loving mother and sometimes "father" to her children during her husband's numerous assignments and deployments and she faced the many challenges of Air Force life with determination and an ability to make the frequent moves a learning experience for the children. Margaret served her family and her country well as she turned each home into a cozy nest and held the family together with her great love. Her love extended to God's creation, the beauty of the mountains, and the great variety of birds and creatures she could feed and love. The backyard was a mini aviary and squirrel haven with its wide array of feeders and colorful plants. She completed her journey in this world peacefully surrounded by loving friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Lee, Sr.; three sons and daughters in law; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday July 31, 2016 in the Chapel of Highlands Cremation & Funeral Care, 2393 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704 with Wanda Skilbred and Marylou Gatan officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, 1214 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
