I grew up next door to Mrs. May, Marilyn and Barbie (Barbara) were my childhood playmates. She was a very good mother to me. As a little boy, I was a handful, still am at 63, but since, Marilyn and Barbie and I played together everyday, she put up with me. She was the prettiest lady, and Mr May was so handsome. They took to see My Fair Lady, Music Man. Marilyn and Barbie and me, use to stand in the cold waiting for the school bus, in front of my house, or the Sunset Nursery. Grew up on horses, played cowboys and Indians, baseball, even Man from Uncle. But above all, M & B & Me, were Explorers, going up the creek in our area. Mrs. May was the best baker in the world!! I don't know how many brownies I snatched when I thought no one was looking. Her chocolate cake was so amazing to a boy my age. Growing up next to the May family was one of the greatest gifts in my life. We were allowed to be kids, playing kick ball and kick the can, and making inner tube rafts, to sail the great seas (creek by the old graveyard.) How Mrs. May put up with us, (there were no pcs, tv in our area was a couple of channels), but she did, and taught us manners too if we misbehaved. I will always remember you, Mrs. May, as the beautiful lady, that opened the door for me and I could run upstairs, and go see Marilyn and Barbie.

Margaret May was one amazing Lady. I have so many happy memories with her, and her family. All the Christmas Eves, dinner parties, Easter egg hunts, the weddings, my parents 25th Wedding anniversary, my Father's memorial, and when she came to the hospital to say goodbye to my Mother. I will never forget her. My life was enriched by having her in it. I am sorry and sad for those she left behind. But I know she is home now with John, and I am sure with my parents playing cards once again.

Margaret was my grandmother's (Marian Madsen) very best friend. My mother and two aunts have grown up with the May girls and I have heard so many lovely stories about the family. Margaret was a very kind and caring person. I will never forget when she let me come stay with her for two weeks when I was in transition to move to LA. She welcomed me in her home, cooked me delicious meals, and we had some great talks too! About two years ago, my husband and I visited Maraget at Sunrise. She chatted with us and shared many stories about her life. I am now in town and was hoping to see Margaret again. Sadly, I heard that she had passed. I am so sorry for your loss and pass my deepest condolences to the immediate family. I know what a wonderful and loving person Margaret was to many and she will always be remembered in my heart!!!

Lots of love,

One year, long ago (40+ years), when I lived with my parents...I wanted to give my parents a Surprise Anniversary Party...but I didn't know how to go about it, since my parents were active in nearly every local committee in the area. How could I keep this surprise party a secret? And then, I recalled Margaret and John May...I remembered my Mom had mentioned Margaret started a catering service. I recall, I drove to their "beautiful" home, (unnannounced) and travelled the l-o-n-g driveway up to the front-door. Margaret was home and answered the door. I introduced myself...I informed Mrs. May of my idea, and asked if she might have any ideas on how I could create this party? Margaret stated
she would have the party at her home...she stated she would invite my parents over for dinner. Margaret then stated, she had a large yard, and she would set-up 8 round tables with cloths, and take care of the catering, too. I don't remember the details of our party agreement; but, I do recall going to the May's home and doing manual-labor to set-up tables, chairs, decorations, and anything else that was needed to complete my agreement obligations. I had much admiration for the May's. They surprised my parents with a PERFECT anniversary party of their closest friends...my parents were elated, and so was I!

Both Margaret and John May were wonderful people. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet the May's.

Condolences to the immediate families. My heart shares your grief.
