Mrs. Margaret Lyons Meaher

Mrs. Margaret Lyons Meaher - widow of Augustine Meaher, Jr. died at home on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the age of 94. She was the only daughter of Joseph Henry Lyons and Olive Houston Lyons. Mrs. Meaher was a native of Mobile. After attending Holton Arms School in Washington, D.C. and the University of Alabama she returned to make her debut in Mobile and was selected to be Queen of Mardi Gras in 1935. Mrs. Meaher is survived by three sons: Augustine Meaher III (Mary Lou), Joseph Lyons Meaher and Robert H. Meaher (Pat); six grandchildren: Augustine Meaher IV, Margaret Lou Meaher, Annie Marie Meaher, Sarah George Meaher, Helen Beatrice Meaher and Sadie Lyons Meaher; one nephew Justice Champ Lyons and her caregivers: Rossie Laffiette, Ernestine Bracy, Kimberly Robinson, and Ruby Jordan. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Mrs. Meaher's memory to the Friends of Magnolia Cemetery, P.O. Box 6383, Mobile, LA 36660. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007 in Magnolia Cemetery.
