Margaret Louise "Peggy" Shay

Margaret Louise Shay, age 66 also known as Peggy Shay, passed away on October 28, 2023, at home. She was born on August 27, 1957, in Westfield, MA, to Doris & George" Moe" Shay. Margaret was a loving and understanding individual who never hesitated to speak her mind. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great pride in them.

Margaret was a warm and welcoming person, always ready to lend a helping hand. She would open her home to anyone in need, providing a place to stay, a warm meal, or simply a listening ear. Her generosity knew no bounds.

In her career, Margaret worked at various places, including Phoenix Restaurant, Westfield Head Start, Northampton State Hospital, Fire Control Service, and Yankee Candle. She was always willing to take on part-time jobs to make extra money.

Margaret attended Westfield High School, graduating in 1975.

Outside of work, Peggy enjoyed playing cribbage, cards, and crocheting. She loved endlessly going on whale watches. She also loved going on countless vacations with her sister, Lisa.

Margaret is survived by her mother, Doris Shay; her children, Kevin Shay, Heidi Shay, and Keri Rivas; her grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, Elysia Recor, Mikeila Maysonet, Savannah Shay, Eliondres Quinones, Meilani Maysonet, Hailey Shay, Maleah Rivas, Liana Shay, Melody Rivas, and Jayde Shay; her great-grandchildren, Summer Rodriguez, Ethan Rodriguez, and IslaMarie Schrecke; her sisters, Lisa Shay of Westfield, MA, and Audrey Ochoa of VA; her six nephews; three aunts; one uncle; numerous cousins and friends; and her daughters best friend she considered her as her own, Sandra-Lee Durett.

Predeceased by her father George Shay.

Margaret's memorial service will be held on November 3, 2023, at 4 pm at Central Baptist Church, followed by a gathering in Hayes Hall at the back of the Church. Private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Westfield Technical Academy. Firtion Adam's Funeral home assisting with arrangements.

Margaret Louise Shay will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and honesty will forever be cherished.
