Margaret and I worked together for over a decade at Deerfield Academy. My first memory of her was her warm smile as I was introduced to everyone in the office. She was so welcoming and kind. We eventually worked side by side on the same team - I have fond memories of being in the office across the hall, where we would often exchange looks across the hall (smiles, incredulous faces when we had tough moments, silent laughter especially"The Final Countdown"!). I will always remember how she loved and longed to return to Sanibel for vacations and how heartbroken we were when Sanibel was hit hard by a hurricane. I remember with fondness her daily lunches with her mom, Agnes - you could set your watch by their lunchtimes! Margaret would bring Renee to the office when I stayed late on Halloween to hand out candy (our office *was* converted from a colonial home after all!). Also, I loved when Margaret would bring Agnes to Deerfield Reunions for the big clambake and afterwards all three of us would head to the dance floor. Even though Margaret would shake her head at Agnes' dance moves (with embarrassment that only a daughter could know), we would always end up laughing and smiling together. So many joy-filled memories. Truly, she was dear to me and her presence will be missed but never forgotten.

I never met Margaret, but I exchanged several email messages with her during her years working in the Deerfield Alumni Office. I live in the Midwest and rarely have the opportunity or occasion to visit the northeast. But I attended my 50th reunion last year and I was looking forward to meeting Margaret. I wanted to acknowledge the inspiration she was to me and to tell her about the guidance and positive influence her father had on me while I was a student at Deerfield. I asked about her when I checked in but was disappointed to learn she had recently moved on. I am sorry to learn that she has passed.

I want you to know that Margaret knew the value of connecting distant people separated by time and space but related in common experience. Even though I never got the chance to meet her or talk to her, I feel a loss. She put her heart into making me feel connected to the school. I´m sure she had the same effect on other alumni. I´m reminded of the many quotes about ripples on a pond.
At my 50th reunion, I took my missed opportunity as a lesson. I made it a point to converse with as many classmates as possible and to tell them the best things I remember about them from our time at Deerfield. It turns out, everyone has had a fascinating life.

There are other people who have had an influence on me that I only keep up with via email or social media - I will be making a point of visiting them soon.

God bless Margaret and her family in this time of sorrow.

I´ll always remember Margaret´s beautiful smile and laugh. Margaret was a dear colleague, teammate, and friend at Deerfield. She is the kindest soul. Deerfield Academy was a better place because of her. She created special memories for us all through her events at Deerfield, especially the epic Choate Days on campus. I´ll always remember her joyous energy dancing at Reunions and holiday parties. Her face always lit up talking about Renee, so proud of her beautiful daughter. May God bless you.
