GREENSBORO — Margie Boren Hutton died at Wesley Long Hospital on September 14, 2011.
A celebration of Margie's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 19, at 2 p.m. Following the service, Margie's family will greet relatives and friends in the Virginia Gilmer Room. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery prior to the service.
Born in Greensboro in 1937 to the late John Archibald and Margie Perry Boren, Margie graduated from Greensboro Senior High School (Grimsley) and attended Salem College. She graduated with honors, winning the President's Prize for outstanding work in the field of psychology and elementary education during her junior year. She taught sixth grade at Brooks Elementary School for four years. Her children were the absolute joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with her four grandchildren. She enjoyed membership at First Presbyterian Church, the Junior League of Greensboro, and the Greensboro Country Club. The family knows she will be remembered for her effusive warmth and the genuine interest she showed in each person she encountered. Margie knew how to light up a room.
Margie is survived by a son, Frederick Prather Hutton, III, (Kristine Fritzinger Hutton) of Vero Beach, FL; a daughter, Margaret Hutton Griffin (Carter Griffin) of Washington, DC; four grandchildren: Mary Hall Boren Hutton, Frederick Prather Hutton, IV, Amelia Manry Griffin, and Fritz Addison Hutton; two sisters: Cecie Boren Workman (Amos Workman) of Greenville, SC, and Mary Jane Boren Meeker (John Meeker) of Chapel Hill, NC; a great-niece, two great-nephews, two nieces, two nephews; and many cousins. All are resting in the knowledge that Margie is at peace at last.
The family is ever grateful to her loving caregivers, Codella Foust, Treann Harris, Erica Motley, and Nikki Spencer, as well as to the exceptionally kind and attentive staff at Well-Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016 or the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 617 N. Elm St., Greensboro, NC, 27401.

Dear Ceci,
I got to know your sister when I visited my mother at Well Spring. She and Mother were such good friends. I knew her better than anyone else at Well Spring and I will miss her.

My mother Codella Foust considered the Boren Family her second family. Growing up in Greensboro, I was privy to many wonderful stories and special moments She loved all four girls dearly and each one loved her. "Della" as she was called by the Boren's took care of them, advised them and they enjoyed her cooking. "For what is to to die, but to stand in the sun and melt into the wind? And when the Earth has claimed our limbs, then we shall truly dance".

I am so sorry for your loss. When I would visit mom and dad (Bill and Joyce Perry) Margie would sometimes drop by to visit. I loved her contagious laugh and smile. I hope that as you grieve that there will be many treasured recollections of her life.
Love,
Linda Tebault (Richmond, Va.)

Dear Fred, Margaret, and Hutton and Boren Families, I am so sorry that Mrs. Hutton has passed. I would like to share with you what I remember most about her. When visiting Fred as a child, teenager, and young man in your home, I always felt a profound warmth and genuine caring. I always knew that Mrs. Hutton loved me and cared for me, and because I was part of Freddie's life, I was part of her life. And this is one of the most cherished gifts I have ever known. Please know that the thoughts and prayers of the entire Regan family are always with you all.
In love,
Paul Regan

Mrs. Hutton was my 6th grade teacher at Brooks. I was a newcomer to the school, and she made me feel special and included. Not to mention that she was a FABULOUS teacher! With loving memories, I offer my deepest sympathy to her family.
