Aunt Margie was part of my earliest childhood memories....she was always there! She was kind, funny, always up for an adventure, exotic as a member of Aqua Ballet synchronized swimming! I remember Saturday morning matinee where cousins MH and Wanda, Uncle Wayne, my brother Sonny and I would be dropped off at the theater for 3 hours of our fav movie clips! My favorite was "Don Winslow of The Navy"! Of course, there were Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and a several others. I remember us (same group as above!) decided to let MH drive us around in Aunt Margie's car....our parents were all gone in Uncle Milton's car! MH was just a kid, no drivers license for SURE...we ended up in the ditch on Prosperity Avenue, and MH ended up in deep DooDoo! I was always happy to climb UP the tree but terrified to climb down. Aunt Margie was sympathetic to my plight being left up the tree. She was there when Wanda and I decided to ride a seatless boy's bike, and came back needing stitches! Coloring eggs for our Easter baskets in the middle of the night! She was the first relative I wanted to see my engagement ring in 1960, in Dallas. But my finest memory is of our 1997 New Englad - New York adventure! I organized and planned the trip so my aunts and cousins could experience some of the wonderful places I had been. Aunt Margie, (Wanda couldn't go), Kay, Aunt Elken, Sue, Fannie Mother, and I flew together to Boston where we were picked up. I had reserved a van, which wasn't available when we arrived. We all six piled into a big ole Caddillac and off we went! We saw the Plymouth Plantation, and every touristy thing in Plymouth. Cape Cod. Hyannis Port - Ethel Kennedy was out in her boat. Buzzard's Bay where we had great seafood outdoors. The Boston scene - lots of it. Then we drove down to New Jersey to our hotel suites - we saw a Broadway Play, Sue and I ran inside The World Trade Center to pick up theatre tickets. We ate on Broadway, had drinks another place, went to Liberty Island and through Statue of Liberty - it was very sobering. The end of our adventure was hilarious as we tried to STUFF 6 women plus all their luggage plus whatever we purchased!! Fannie Mother, Kay and Sue were riding ON TOP of the clothing hang-up bags with their heads touching the roof! We looked like the Beverly Hillbillies I'm certain! But even with all the walking tours, tired bodies, we laughed till we peed our pants. Wish I had my pics here in Florida but alas, they are in Indiana! Rest In Peace Aunt Margie.
