AMRIEN

Marguerite (Marge) H. Amrien, 88 of Villa Hills, KY, formerly of Chincoteague, VA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 7, 2017 after a battle with dementia. She was born in Carlstadt, NJ on April 13, 1929, the only daughter of the late John and Augusta (Krull) Hailer. Marge grew up in Carlstadt and Pompton Plains, NJ. She graduated from the Academy of Saint Aloysius, Jersey City, NJ and continued her education, attending the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ where she graduated with honors, receiving a BS in Chemistry. After college, Marge worked at Hoffman La Roche Pharmaceuticals, taught high school chemistry, and worked as a vibration analyst for Curtiss-Wright Corp. Marge married Dr. Donald J. Amrien in 1955. After living in Innsbruck, Austria while her husband finished medical school, they returned to Pompton Plains, NJ but eventually settled in Chincoteague, VA, where her husband opened his medical practice and she settled in to raise their eight children. Marge was an active member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Chincoteague, VA where she played the organ for many years until her move to Kentucky in 2011. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed reading newspapers and for a non-athletic person loved watching sporting events like ice skating and the Olympics on television. Marge was preceded in death by her parents John and Augusta Hailer and her husband Donald J. Amrien. She is lovingly remembered by her eight children and ten grandchildren. Son, John Amrien M.D. of Wilmington, DE, daughter Jean Noll M.D. (Steve) of Fort Mitchell, KY, daughter Susan Russell (Charles) of Salisbury, MD, daughter Nancy Eskau (Perry) of Edgewater, MD, daughter Joyce Amrien of Chincoteague, VA, son James Amrien (Michelle) of Simpsonville, SC, daughter Lori Amrien of Wilmington, DE and son Paul Amrien of Redondo Beach, CA. Her ten grandchildren include Gretchen Amrien, Christopher Amrien, Dani Noll, Nick Noll, Natalie Noll, Emma Amrien, Jessie Dixon, Morgan Warner, Kendall Lark and Drew Arthur. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and the kindest of people. She will be greatly missed by the many who loved her. The funeral mass will be held at 7 P.M. on May 10, 2017 at Madonna Manor Chapel, 2344 Amsterdam Rd., Villa Hills, KY 41017. A memorial mass to be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Chincoteague, VA will be planned for a later date. Burial services will take place at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ, at a later date. I'm so sorry for the loss of Mrs. Amrien, she and her family added so much to our Island life and she will not be forgotten. Dr. and the children were her life and how fortunate for the rest of us that she shared them with our community. My sincere condolences and thoughts are with each of you.
