(Youngstown) - Marguerite E. "Betty" Green, age 84, of Youngstown, died Friday, March 27, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House, in Lockport, after a brief illness.Betty was born January 12, 1925, in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late William C. and Marguerite (Buckle) Kirk. She was a 1942 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and on October 12, 1946, she married Robert G. Green. Betty and Robert had lived in Youngstown since 1963. Robert predeceased her in 2005. Betty was employed as a Senior Accountant at the Niagara Co. Public Works Office in Lockport for 17 years, retiring in 1985. From 1985 to 2000, she worked in Admissions and Ticket Sales for the Old Fort Niagara Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and the Historical Society of Lundy Lane, Niagara Falls, Ontario. She is survived by her children, George K. (Leeann) Green of Chesapeake, VA, Steven M. Green of Boulder, CO, Christina M. (James) Galbraith of Ransomville and Robert G. Green of Wilson; her grandchildren, Jessica Hughes, Anne Phillips, Joshua, Robert and Jayme Green; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, William C., Boyne R., George B. and Hobart J. Kirk.Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth and Ridge Sts., Lewiston, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Lamb officiating. Private burial will follow at Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 35 A St., Niagara Falls, NY 14304, or to Canine Helpers for the Handicapped, 5705 Ridge Rd., Lockport, NY 14094.Visit www.legacy.com/niagara-gazette for online guest register.

Tina, Scoob & Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathies for the loss of your Mom. She was such a wonderful woman, and an amazing neighbor to look after my Mom the way she did for the last few years. She'll be missed by our entire family, but especially by Mom and Lily. She was a very special person.

Tina, I was so sorry to hear about your mother. We had a special connection but lost contact several years after she and I had both retired from the Public Works Department. She was a unique person and a good friend. Dee Bissell from Public Works sends her sympathies also.
