I never met Mari but I have all her books and her rooting Lacan in ordinary life was transforming for me . I sent her an email telling her this and to my surprise she sent a warm note of thanks

She studied with me at Swampscott High School in Massachusetts in the early 1980s. She was a fierce debater.

I only found out today that Marie had passed away. I´m just one unknown person who felt her presence though far away and without knowing her personally. It was through reading her books. Her writings on the subject of `LOVE´ was truly amazing and I discovered it at a time in my own life that was so timely. I felt her energy from afar. What a tragedy to lose someone so gifted ...... it seems, before her time. RIP Marie. You won´t be forgotten.

I last had the pleasure of seeing Mari at the LACK (psychoanalysis) conference in April of this year, just two months ago. She was so kind and determined to be a part of this gathering - driving over two days one way to get to Burlington, Vermont. She was so kind and generous to me and we had a wonderful conversation about life, diagnoses, medicine, the state of health insurance, and of course, our mutual passion for psychoanalytical thought. She was definitely taken too soon and I among so many others will miss her tremendously. I feel lucky to have known her and

I enjoyed and admired Mari Ruti´s books tremendously and was really touched by the news of her death, because I was unknowing of her physical predicament. Her sharpness and vitality always struck me as extraordinary. She exemplified for me the immortal within. My sincere condolences to her loved ones.

I am deeply affected by the loss of Mari Ruti. My condolences to all that loved her. I only know her through her work yet I believe her passion and soul have touched me. She stood out in the world of Theory as a voice of hope and optimism. I am grateful to have been inspired by her words.

Mari was as large in real life as her writings have proved to be in academe. In the early 2000´s I brought Mari to Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California where she gave talks to students and to faculty. She was both inspiring and down to earth and the students and faculty loved her. But for me personally it was a deeply fulfilling experience as she has proved to be the most influential thinker and human being in my life. Thank you for being yourself, Mari!

I will forever remember Mari this way: blazing bright, beautiful, and immortal. Rest in peace, Mari.
