Maria Afonso Obituary
Emily was renowned for her beautiful garden, glorious fig trees, impeccable style and meticulous home. She was an avid reader, beach lover, world traveller, loved musical theatre and was always prepared for a discussion on global politics and current affairs.
Her strength, grace and courage under fire are rivalled only by the compassion and commitment shown towards husband Luis, whom she cared for in the family home for 15 years after he suffered a major stroke that left him unable to talk or walk and then visited daily with dinner in tow when he was no longer able to live at home.
Rest in peace, Mama. You are our hero and we will miss you everyday.
A private family service will be held in the New Year.
