Maria E. (Mendonca) Branco

Maria E. (Mendonca) Branco, 76, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton on Sunday, December 6, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Manuel H. Branco whom she was married to for 54 years. Daughter of the late Eduino and Maria (Luna) Mendonca, she was born and raised in Faial, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1970. Maria worked at Ark-Les Switch in Stoughton for over 15 years before working at Polaroid in Norwood for 10 years until her retirement at age 52 to care for and enjoy her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Maria is survived by her beloved children, Maria F. Freitas and her husband Norman and Gina B. Costeira and her husband Daniel all of Stoughton and Richard M. Branco and his wife Anna of Bridgewater. She was the loving and dedicated grandmother of Jessica and Christopher Freitas, Kaitlyn and Stephanie Costeira and Ashley and Kayla Branco. She was the sister of Margaret Camara and Dolores LeBlanc both of New Bedford and the late Liduino and Manuel Mendonca. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services are private. For those who would like to extend condolences in person, a drive through visitation will be held in the Parking Lot at Farley Funeral Home on Thursday Morning from 10:45-11 AM where those who wish to extend sympathies can so from the safety of their own cars.
