Maria Manzi

Maria (Gervilli) Manzi, 84, passed away on September 16, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. Born on July 3, 1932 in Quindici Avellino, Italy to the late Giorgio and Maria Grazia (Romano) Gervilli, she immigrated to the United States in 1970 with her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and worked at her family’s pizza shop in Palmer for many years. She also liked having her glass of wine and going to the casino. Maria was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was very active in the Italian community. She was proud of her Italian heritage.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Salvatore Manzi who passed on December 20, 2012 and her brothers Augustino and Salvatore. Maria is survived by her loving children Vincenzo Manzi, Franco Manzi and his wife Michell, Angelo Manzi and Bruno Manzi all of Springfield and Eleanora Scirocco and her husband Gianfranco of Chicopee; seven adored grandchildren Cara, Adam, Jillian, Makenna, Alessandro, Franco, and Angelo; sisters Lucia, Elena and Franca of Italy and many extended family members.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow from 8:30–10 AM. Funeral services will begin at 10AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
