Maria Elena Flores Mariscal age 75 from Miami AZ passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley surrounded by her family. Maria was born and raised in Miami by her parents Pablo and Vicenta Flores. She was the youngest of five children.
Maria married the love of her life Hector Mariscal and they had three children who were the light of her life. As a devout mother, you would find her serving as cub scout den mother for her son Manuel where they worked on many projects together, cheering on her son Ruben in sporting events and sharing her love of cooking with her daughter Marisela. Maria and her husband were married for 50 years and were inseparable as they traveled, attended dances, the casino and simply listened to the oldies but goodies. When they traveled to the valley, dinner dates were a must and a good reason to sip a frosted piña colada. Maria whose love of God and her fellow men was evident in the friendships she created. Her door was always open to everyone where she made sure the visit was pleasant and all were well fed. Her gift and passion for cooking helped her earn first place in the fiestas and many community events with the salsa contests. Her famous tamales were also a hit with the community.  Always eager and ready to have her family join her to celebrate, she hosted many special occasions and holidays parties with Halloween being her favorite every year up until her illness progressed. Maria’s heart grew with each grandchild that was added and she considered each her greatest treasure in this life. They gave her immeasurable joy and happiness.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, sister Gloria Gay, brothers: Jose Flores, Paul "Chicho" Flores and Johnny (Ramona) Flores. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Hector whom she called "Manny",

Three children: Marisela (Ruben) Ramos of Mesa AZ, Manuel "Lito" (Bernadette) Mariscal and Ruben (Sherri) Mariscal both of Miami Az. 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter with one on the way. She also leaves behind sister's/brother's in law, many nieces/nephews, countless cousins and many friends.

"How lucky were we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard”

I would like to celebrate Maria for the amazingly beautiful person she was!!! She always let you know you were loved in her actions and her words. She always found something to relate to.like our countless conversations of her days spent as a lunch lady and how they made everything from scratch. Bread, tortillas, burritos you name it! She never saw the bad in people and was always kind. Her beautiful smile and her little laugh. These are the things I will remember her for. My prayers are with all that she has touched.

I have so many wonderful memories of my Tia Mary. She was such a huge part of our lives. We were blessed to live so close. She was the youngest of the girls in the Flores household and as such took on the role as caretaker for my grandparents Pablo & Vicenta for much of their lives even though she had her own household to tend to with my Tio Manny and my cousins Marisela, Lito & Ruben. She was one indeed one of the hardest working women I knew. Every time I saw her, she was either cooking or cleaning. A typical Mexican Mama. Of course to all who knew her she was known for knowing her way around the kitchen. Oh those green chili tamales, popcorn balls & Christmas delights! She was special. She loved everyone. She was so kindhearted and giving. Even after I left home, she would always inquire as to how I was, if everything was good and if my partner was treating me good. She always cared. My earliest memories I have as a little girl are of being in her room in my grandparents house thinking she was so cool putting on her pancake makeup and lipstick. I couldnt wait to grow up to be like my Tia Mary. You were special to all of us. We will always hold these memories dear. What a wonderful family reunion you are having in heaven. I can hear the Mariachis now. Love you Tia. ❤

To the mother of one of my best friends, I will always remember the way you welcomed me into your home. It didn't matter the day or hour that i would stop by, you were always there to greet me when I came in, ask me how I was doing and of course have something great to eat on the stove. Even up to our last barbecue together in March your kindness and warmth was a reminder of all the past visits and the great times i had in your home. You raised a great family and I am blessed to have the friendship of all your children and your husband as well. You were a reminder of what a great mother is supposed to be and your beauty and spirit shines through your daughter every time we talk. You truly were an example of what a great family should. I will always look back at you and your family with fond affection. May you rest in peace and comfort knowing your family will be carrying on with all the gifts you left them

Rest in peace Maria. I will miss the Christmas goodies at Christmas time when my babies and I would come for the holidays. Remembering the red chile burros you would make before going to the little league games, watching you sit at the kitchen table while you would put on your makeup. I even remember you hand stitching the beads and sequins to Mari's wedding dress. You gave your all as a mother. Those are only just a few of many years of many memories. I have of you. When I see your great grandbabies aka my grand babies I will always see parts of you within them. What a blessing! Dance with the angels. You've earned your angel wings. We love you♥
