Maria Estrêla Raposo Resendes

Peacefully, with her family by her side at St. Joseph's Hospice London, on Friday, June 24, 2022, Maria Estrêla Resendes in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Manuel Teixeira Resendes (2016). Loving mother of Maria (John) Heggtveit, Emanuel (Teresa) Resendes, Debbie (Danny) da Silva, Nancy (Pier-Paul) Palombo and Derek (Melinda) Resendes. Most dear to her heart are her granchildren Katie, Jack, Natasha, Sophia, Matteus, Lucas, Giuliana, Emma and Christian. Maria was born in Lomba da Fazenda on the beautiful island of São Miguel Portugal in 1945 and immigrated to Canada, settling in London in 1965 with her husband Manuel where she first worked in the tobacco fields and later in Housekeeping at University Hospital in London. We are forever grateful for her kind heart, gentle nature and commitment to her family. Maria believed strongly in community service, volunteering at Holy Cross Church in London's Portuguese community. She will be sadly missed and forever remain a shining star in our lives. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St., London on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, 10 Elm St. at Hamilton Rd. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., followed by entombment in St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
