MARIA SANCHEZ

1926 - 2016

Maria Teresa Sanchez, 89, originally of El Paso passed away Monday, January 18, at her home in The Colony, Texas. Maria was born on June 5, 1926 to Ignacio Gomez and Josefina Rojas Gomez in El Paso, Texas. She was united in marriage to Alfonso Sanchez on January 15, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2008. Maria was a generous loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her daughters: Rosa Isela (Sanchez) Stewart of The Colony, Texas and Maria Teresa (Sanchez) Martinez of El Paso, Texas. Her sons are Alfonso, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Antonio of San Antonio, Texas, Gabriel of Houston, Texas and Eduardo of San Diego California along with 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jose R. Gomez and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 Carolina on Sunday, January 24, 2016 with vigil at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
