Mariah Burrell Obituary
A lifelong educator, Mariah earned degrees from Southern University and the National College of Education and served 36 years teaching in Bogalusa and Chicago. She was known for her faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and students.
She is survived by her children Neta Burrell (Baton Rouge), Cleotha Burrell, Jr. (Bogalusa), and Dr. Lisa Burrell (Spring, TX); her brother Albert "Sonny" Thompson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, and a great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mariah Elizabeth Education Fund or flower seeds may be contributed for memorial gardens in her honor.
Joint services will be held:

I feel blessed to have witnessed the care, commitment, and unconditional love that you shared with her over the many years that I have known you.
