Mariam J. Wuwert, 99, of Toledo, OH, passed away at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Wednesday, November 2, 2022. She was born in Pioneer, OH, but grew up in West Unity, OH. Mariam was employed with Lucas County Department of Health and Family Services for many years before retiring. However, she will be remembered for her selfless service to others. During her tenure at the unit, Mariam served as Unit President, County President, and District President, and many Chairpersonships at all levels. Mariam became active with the Northwest Ohio Honor flight, by presenting each returning veteran with an American flag. Mariam also presented the new naturalized citizens with the American flag. She also was one of the organizers of the rummage sales, cookie walks and in years past the drive through nativity. Up until recently she went in weekly to pay the church bills.
