Marian Moses Hill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2019.
On Monday, October 28, 2019, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call Marian 'Beverly' Moses Hill home at the age of 62. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Marian was born June 22, 1957 in Manhattan, New York. She was the youngest daughter of the late Elisha Moses, Sr. and Mamie Moses. Marian attended primary school in Manhattan, NY before moving to Winston-Salem, NC, where she finished school and graduated from Atkins High School. Marian's heartfelt compassion for others, her ability to challenge and inspire all she met as well as her determination not to give up or give in fueled her dream and led to the founding of the non-profit organization, Dorcas House, which took a holistic approach in providing a safe drug-free residence, where women can begin the recovery process. Marian cultivated her belief in Christianity at St. James Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC until her health declined. Marian was preceded in death by her loving parents, first husband Dennis Byrd, brothers Harold Moses and Elisha 'Moe' Moses, Jr. and three nephews Sean Starnes, Robin Jamar Lee, and Leroy Moses. Leaving behind to cherish and celebrate Marian's beautiful spirit is her devoted and caring daughter Kenyetta Ridley (John) of Greensboro, NC; three joyous granddaughters: QuaiShawnda Byrd of Oakland, CA, Jamilia Ridley and Khamani Ridley, both of Greensboro, NC; friend and husband, Paul Hill of Wilkesboro, NC; three dedicated sisters: Mamie Dean of Morningside, MD, Anne Starnes of Winston-Salem, NC and Flora Moses of Winston-Salem, NC; mother-in-law Pauline Hill of Wilkesboro, NC; a sister-in-law Teresa Hill of Ronda, NC; three brothers-in-law: James Hill of Wilkesboro, NC, David Hill (Albertha) of Waxhaw, NC and Joe Hill (Amanda) of Goldsboro, NC. As well as a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Flowers can be sent to Life Community Church, 4900 W. Wendover Avenue, Jamestown, NC 27282 and all other expressions of love can be sent to PO Box 77281, Greensboro, NC 27417..

This beautiful woman of color and was called home not too long ago
. I miss just talking to her
She always took the time to listen. Whether it made sense or not, she would never judge or force her input on me. Some times just having a intelligent thoughtful caring person listen can provide so much peace in ones life. I miss that laugh and her beautiful smile. Knowing Miriam was a honor that I never felt worthy of but I m so glad she was and still is my friend and sister. Thank you beautiful angel, thank you for wanting the best for everyone ♥. I miss you dearly and most of all I'm so happy for you. You made it !!!!. Continue to wrap your love around us. I miss you.

Me & my sister had plenty of funny memories with our grandma but I'll just write about the most memorable one. Years and years ago my grandma picked me & my sister up from school and we were hungry so we asked to pick up some food. As always, she agreed to buy us taco bell. We go through the drive thru, order as usual then proceed to the first window to pay then to the second .... actually thats the part she forgot. She paid but forgot to pull up to the next window and get our food . Nobody even noticed until we got all the way home and we laughed about this for weeks after it happened. From then on we had to remind her at every restaurant to try to remember to get the food and forget to pay!!
