David Becker Obituary

David L. Becker Sr. passed away on Tuesday September 24, 2012. He was married to the former Doris Olson who passed away in September of 2005 and is survived by four sons, David Jr., Doug, Dale and Don. He was born in Beloit, Kansas on April 3, 1929 and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended the University of New Mexico.
Mr. Becker, a veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and after his discharge moved his family to central Florida. It was there during the early 1950's where he became involved in the initial part of the space program at Cape Canaveral with the Redstone and Atlas rockets. Later he relocated his family to the Orlando area working with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1986.
He never lost his love for his Native American West, the color of leaves in the fall on the Blue Ridge at his cabin, but most of all his love for his sons. Mr. Becker was a Christian and was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. He will be missed by his boys and anyone who ever met him. Rest in peace Dad, we will all see you again.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2012 in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Lee & I met Dave in 2004 when we moved into the neighborhood. We always thought a lot of Dave, and can vividly remember having conversations centered around: College Football (He loved the Gators), US History, or that days hot topics from the Wall Street Journal. I always joked with Dave and told him he was Bradford Place's official “Neighborhood Watchman”. Anyone that drove into our neighborhood could count on seeing Dave, relaxing in his chair, by the garage with his dog. He would greet people with a smile on his face, and a friendly wave. He will be greatly missed, but realize he is in a better place now. Our thoughts and prayers are with Doug, Dale, Don, Dave, and the entire Becker family.
